This Opportunity:

We are looking for a Development Team Lead to expand our growing Engineering team in Australia! Reporting to a member of our Engineering Leadership team, you will be responsible for building out and scaling our products as well as driving continuous improvements to our data pipeline – the central point for data acquisition, aggregation, transformation, identification, and filtering.

Success in this role requires someone strong in software architecture and with a collaborative people-first approach to leadership who is excited about coaching their team to solve complex problems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guide team development efforts towards successful project delivery while maintaining high standards of software quality by establishing good practices and habits.
  • Manage a team of 4 to 5 developers. Identifying and developing career paths for your team by encouraging their areas for growth and improvement through feedback and regular 1 on 1 meetings.
  • Lead technical discussions of new solutions and architectures. Ensure that technical decisions support our goals of quality, performance, scalability, reliability, availability, and security.
  • Champion innovating ideas and foster an environment of continuous improvement.
  • Work with our operations team to improve the architecture while building and scaling services.
  • Build new features with a focus on testability and extensibility.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

  • Proven experience building amazing things that speak for themselves in a technical leadership position.
  • Ideally, but not required, experience working with Python and Django.
  • An understanding of SQL and relational database design.
  • Optional, but preferred understanding of asynchronous programming, Postgres, JSON Web APIs, AWS, Jenkins, Python, Django, Linux.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (collaborate, facilitate, and negotiate).
  • Understanding of cloud platforms and experience deploying on AWS.
